Life of James H. Alexander

"Uncle Jim" is 93 Years Old Today - Hale and Hearty

James H. Alexander, one of the oldest and best known residents of this city, is today celebrating his ninety-third birthday and is hale and hearty. He is being showered with congratulations on every side and although only seven years from the century mark, is able to get about with as much ease and activity as a man of twenty-one.

In his long career "Uncle Jim" has witnessed the fall of empires and the fall of republics. He has seen the whole map's surface changed time and again and has been a resident of this glorious government under every president, except one. Mr. Alexander was born October 25, 1814.

Mr. Alexander has three children living, two of whom live in this city and are yet in the prime of life. They are V. O. Alexander, G. P. Alexander and Mrs. Olivia Cox. The latter lives in Memphis.

unknown paper, Pine Bluff, Ark., Oct. 25, 1907

Note: G. P. Alexander lived in Memphis. V.O. Alexander and Olivia Cox lived in Pine Bluff.
