There were no executions by burning during the Salem Witch Trials. The colony was under English law which viewed witchcraft as a felony for which the punishment was death by hanging. Only in those countries where witchcraft was a heresy were the condemned executed by fire.

By the time the hysteria of 1692 had ended 19 men and women had been hanged and one man was pressed to death for refusing to enter a plea in court.
