Available Services

As a general policy, QH does not alter the spelling, grammar or punctuation nor do we edit anything in the original, including biased or vulgar language. Depending on the condition of the original, there may be areas of text that cannot be read. In those cases where our best efforts have failed, [illegible] will be placed in the text.

We offer three types of transcription, with the price based on the amount of formatting involved.

• Basic: A straight copy of all legible text, spaced at 1.5 lines in 12 pt serif type but without format 'oddities' in the text, such as strike-outs, superscript or subscript, random calculations, images and doodles. Suitable for ASCII (.txt) formats.
  
  
• Exact: QH will produce as closely as our word processing software will allow a duplicate of the original, including words scratched out, words left out then added in ^superscript and those that appear in _subscript, the exact formation of the writer's numbers and dates (Feby 21^st,,). Drawings and doodles will be scanned and placed in their appropriate places within the transcript. Suitable for most word processors.
  
  
• Web Ready: In addition to the transcription, QH will code your document for internet publication. This is one of the best methods for sharing a single document among relatives and researchers. You will receive a digital version of black text on a white background. QH does not offer web page design with our transcription service. Suitable for any web page software or for direct publication on the Internet.

You will receive your transcript per your selection above and in the format of your choosing. Depending on the document's file size, the transcript can be transmitted via email, or on zip disc, CD-R, or CD-RW.

ASCII (.txt) -- digital copy will not contain format codes

Portable Document Format (.pdf) -- a good choice for documents in which no further changes are anticipated



Web Ready (.html) -- coding fee included in the estimate
