Roman Candle ClocksWe also sell the earliest known "alarm clock" -- a candle of double sized sections. The alarm clock ($16) includes the candle, a pin and plate, sticking putty and instructions. Caution: Do not leave any candle burning openly and unshielded inside a tent. Our candles may be used inside a tall jar to protect the flame from wind and the surroundings from fire. Also, if you absolutely have to be somewhere on time, trust your modern chronometer and not a candle. Our timepieces are meant as props or for "show and tell." A candle's accuracy is relative, affected by many conditions such as the size of the candle, wind conditions and exposure. |

| Alarm clock candles. A heated metal pin is pressed into the wax. When the candle burns down, the pin falls onto the metal plate, wakening the sleeper -- assuming he is a light sleeper. Also, there is no "snooze" button. | |
