Mrs. Sheffield Phelps Dies In Augusta

Mrs. Sheffield Phelps of Aiken's winter colony died at 8:10 p. m. yesterday in St. Joseph's hospital, Augusta.

For many years a beloved winter resident of Aiken, Mrs. Phelps was a past president of the South Gardens clubs.

Survivors in Aiken include two daughters, Miss Claudia Phelps and Mrs. R. H. Wilds.

Other details and funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow.

Mrs. Phelp's Final Services This Morning

Funeral service for Mrs. Sheffield Phelps, prominent Aiken winter resident who died at St. Joseph's hospital in Augusta, Ga., at 8:10 p.m. Monday, will be conducted from St. Thaddeus Episcopal church at 11 a.m. today with the The Rev. George Murphy officiating. Interment will take place in Simsbury, Conn. on Thursday afternoon.

Survivors include two daughters, Miss Claudia Lea Phelps, II of Bar Harbor, Maine and Mrs. R. H. Wilds of Aiken; one son; one son, William Walter Phelps of Westbury, N.Y., and three sisters, Mrs. William C. Spruance of Wilmington, Del; Mrs. Grant Campbell of Charlottesville, Va; and Mrs. Paul Nowland of Wilmington, Del. Also six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
