Mrs. L. T. Wilds Passes At Home

Funeral Services for Beloved Woman Set for This Afternoon

Mrs. L. T. Wilds, 74, died at her home, 1420 Washington street, at 9:35 last night after an illness of several months.

Mrs. Wilds was the widow of L. T. Wilds, who died in 1929. Mr. Wilds was a prominent farmer and real estate dealer.

She was a loyal member of the First Presbyterian church and was known and loved for her devotion to her family and her church. Mrs. Wilds would have celebrated her seventh-fifth [sic] birthday March 22.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. H. W. McCreight, Miss Mamie Wilds, Miss Theo Wilds, and Mrs. James McDonald, Jr., all of Columbia: Miss Cornelia Wilds of Asheville, N.C., and Mrs. John Davis of Kingstree; seven sons, Dr. R. H. Wilds, Aiken; the Rev. L. T. Wilds, D. D., Hendersonville, N. C.; the Rev. S. H. Wilds, missionary to the Belgian Congo; Dr. Edwin Wilds, Anderson, and John Wilds, Marion and James Wilds, of Columbia.

All of Mrs. Wilds children will be here for the funeral. The Rev. S. H. Wilds, who is a missionary in Africa, is here on a furlough. He was to have visited here last year, but was unable to get home until recently.

Mrs. Wilds was the daughter of Dr. R. H. Edmunds and Mrs. Martha Ellen Taylor Edmunds of Ridgeway.

Funeral services will be held from the First Presbyterian church at 5 o'clock this afternoon, conducted by Dr. J. W. Jackson, pastor of the church. Interment will be in the churchyard.

Active pallbearers will be: Richard DesPortes, Edwin Belser, S. B. McMaster, Wilson Gibbes, Bill Lamar and John Sloane. Elders and deacons of the First Presbyterian church will be honorary pallbearers.

Wilds Services Held Yesterday

Beloved Columbia Woman Laid to Rest From First Presbyterian Church

Final rites for Mrs. L. T. Wilds, 74, who died at her home, 1420 Washington street, at 9:30 Monday night, were conducted at 5 o'clock yesterday afternoon from the First Presbyterian church by the Rev. J. W. Jackson, pastor. Interment followed in the churchyard.

Pallbearers were: J. M. Ray, Edwin Belser, Wilson Gibbes, Billy Lamar and John Sloane. Elders and deacons of the First Presbyterian church were honorary pallbearers.

Mrs Wilds was a devoted member of the First Presbyterian church and took an active part in many of its activities. She was a loyal and devoted mother. She was the widow of L. T. Wilds, prominent farmer and real estate dealer, who died in 1929.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. H. W. McCreight, Miss Mamie Wilds, Miss Theo Wilds, and Mrs. James McDonald, Jr., all of Columbia: Miss Cornelia Wilds of Asheville, N.C., and Mrs. John Davis of Kingstree; seven sons, Dr. R. H. Wilds, Aiken; the Rev. L. T. Wilds, D. D., Hendersonville, N. C.; the Rev. S. H. In Mrs. Wilds' death Columbia loses a noble mother, whose 13 sons and daughters are monuments to her. A Christian of great grace and faith, she was devoted to the church and home and her life was an inspiration to all who knew her.
