     *This company was known at various times as 2d Lieutenant Toole's Detachment, Texas Volunteer Infantry; Captain Toole's Company Texas Volunteer Infantry; Captain Toole's Company, Captain Trainer's Company and Company I, 3d Regiment Texas Infantry.
     The field officers of this regiment were appointed September 4, 1861, when but one company had been formed, but the organization was not completed until October 29, 1862, when three independent companies were assigned to it by order of Brig. Gen. Bee. The regiment was known as the 1st and as Luckett's Regiment Texas Infanry but it was finally designated as the 3d Regiment Texas Infantry.
